ART MEETS DESIGN WITH ONYX FROM STONE AGE
As part of the refurbishments to their Parsons Green showroom, natural stone experts Stone Age have installed a real statement in natural stone – a thinly cut piece of Onyx, displayed with a light shone from behind to really bring the natural veining to life.
Onyx – shown here without light (light); book-matched and backlit (right).
A semi-precious stone formed from quartz, Onyx is renowned for the natural beauty of its coloured bands which range from white and pale yellow through to amber, brown, red and black. The stone is characterised by the variations in depth of colour from opaque to translucent to almost transparent. It is this characteristic that makes Onyx so suitable for use in an installation with light. However, even without being backlit, Onyx creates a stunning effect, especially when shown book-matched as above.
Perfect as a stylish wall panel in a wet room or simply as a piece of art framed and installed in a grand entrance way, Onyx cannot fail to make an impact whatever your project.
